Babe it seems like so long

Matt Mays - Downtown

Been a little while guys! I just got back from my sister’s highschool graduation in Mackenzie, BC. The 2nd day I was back, it was 29 degrees, and there was still snow on the golf course. Proof:

Also, I was looking forward to spending a good portion of my 5 days there playing golf but I was immediately put off on the firstĀ  hole, and only ended up playing 9 holes the whole time I was there. This is why I only played 9 holes:

Most golf courses have the decency to sprinkle the greens while people aren’t playing, or at the very least not to put a large hose in the path leading to the hole. There was even a small lawn sprinkler behind that. I quickly ran up to my ball here, one handed it in from 20 feet for birdie, but still got soaked as I picked my ball out of the hole.

Here’s a video my brother took of my swing, notice the mosquitoes flying around. I’m a bit inside on the way back and a little flat in my transition down, but I’m extremely happy with the way I’m hitting the ball, especially since I really haven’t put much time into it lately. My coach says my swing is the best it’s ever been, so that’s positive.

With regards to pocer I’m pretty pleased with my results lately. I’m finally realizing I have to put in at least a little bit of volume if I want to make money, so in May I put in a little bit of volume and got nice results:

I’m finding myself picking up on more and more things each time I play poker, and that’s pretty important. It’s very easy to fall stagnant, and if you do that your game is going to suffer. I’ve been focussing hard on game selection as well and I know that accounts for a small portion of my good results.

I’m playing in the Royal Colwood Amateur golf tournament this weekend, so I’m going to be spending a lot of time at the golf course seeing if I can manage to get my game into winning shape in the next 4 days. I don’t have high expectations but I do know I am capable. Once that is done I am going to work on developing a solid balance between golf and poker. I want to be able to bank 3-4k a month so I can have about 20k by the end of 09 so I can take a shot at the Gateway Tour in Arizona in January. The nice thing about the Gateway Tour is that most of the events are local, and I won’t know anyone so I can just grind hard with golf and poker, and poker should comfortably take care of all my weekly expenses so I won’t have to deal with the stress of shooting low scores so I can eat that week.

Oliver is back in less than 3 weeks, and Kevin and I are going to Banff and Calgary to see Matt Mays at the beginning of July, and then enjoy the Calgary Stampede for a couple days…. everything is really exciting right now!!

I’m still offering coaching for 9-man sng’s, so if any of you guys are interested drop me a line on here or 2p2!

Many happy returns!
