SIGH

Had another really weak day at the golf course, compared to what I was hoping for. It was productive, just not near as much as I’d hoped. I only got through a bit over 100 balls, and it took me til the end of them to find any sort of groove, annoying!!! Tomorrow I know it will be a lot easier since I know what went wrong out there. If you’re curious!!!! My right arm was a bit disconnected from my torso at address and during my backswing and this led to a whole world of problems, compounded by the fact that I didn’t realize I wasn’t even doing it because it was on my mind the whole time I just wasn’t doing it hard enough. That’s a definite focus/concentration issue. Putted nicely for a few minutes then got dragged out for 9 holes. I’m not going to make a habit of this especially when I have specific practice plans, I have to treat it more like a job, because it’s going to be my job. I played so bad, it was pretty embarrassing. I’m definitely not going to play for a few days, just going to grind the range until I get comfortable and confident. Once I “get it” which I hope is soon then I’ll be playing 18-36 every day and spending minimal time at the range.

Also, my hometown of Mackenzie, BC is probably a little concerned at these goings on:

It’s insane to think about a whole town getting wiped out, I don’t know what I’d do, probably just end up imploding.

This is for anyone in Mackenzie right now :)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjtbhmQhsXg

TOMORROW, 500 BALLS. $10 BOUNTIES VIA POKERSTARS TRANSFER TO THE FIRST 5 PEOPLE WHO MESSAGE ME ASKING IF I HIT 500 BALLS AND MY REPLY IS NO I AM AN INFANT FEMALE CHILD I DID NOT ACCOMPLISH A RELATIVELY SIMPLE TASK.

Win some, lose some, win some more

Slept in a bit today, yesterday was a bit rough. Didn’t get out to the golf course til a bit past 12. Started hitting balls and next thing I knew it was 2 hours later, it felt like a few minutes. That’s a good feeling to know that practicing golf isn’t a huge grind and something I could do pretty much all day, most days. Having said that I only made it through about 250 balls, lolz. I was a bit demoralized when my iPod went borderline busto and I was eager to go get a new iPod touch (omg amazing). Anyways, it took me a bit over 100 balls to really figure out how I needed to work on things, but I got a handle on it and definitely have a few more days of really hard work. I’d rather spend the majority of my time chipping, putting, and ideally playing, but when I’m working on a change I think it’s best I spend most of my time at the range. ALSO! When I practice I find it easy to lose my rhythm/mojo when I haven’t been playing a lot, and whenever I do lose it it’s almost impossible to get it back, now finally with some help from my coach I’m able to sort of always find it within a few minutes, it’s a nice feeling. My putting stroke is feeling better and better every day as well.

Last night someone buzzed our apartment looking for Aaron (my former roommate). Eventually I clued in that it was a guy using a girls voice and he hung up, I went out to the balcony and saw a couple guys laughing and walking away but it was too dark to recognize them. When I got to my car today, my CHICK MAGNET sticker was attempted to be taken off, and my antenna was completely bent to the right. Seems pretty clear that it was Aaron goofing off. I was pretty choked, and it was just an antenna and a sticker, I can’t imagine how I’d feel if someone broke into my apartment or I got mugged, jeez.

My room had been an incredible pigsty since a while before I left for Hawaii, so was annoyed that I’d have to clean it today and do loads of laundry. When I got home Sam and Lindon completely cleaned my room, organized some new things, did all my laundry, and made it look a billion times better than I could have, dang it feels good. I am soooo happy.

Tomorrow:

500 balls, COME ON GUY!

6×6x10

Pelz Track

Various chipping.

I’m back!

Hello friends. I had such a good time in Hawaii, it was the best vacation I’ve had. Did a bunch of really cool awesome things with my family and we all had fun - besides my sister who probably needs an iPhone with a facebook app so she can stay calm for those times when she’s away from the computer for more than 2 hours. I have some of my pics posted on my facebook, I think my acct is public?

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/photos.php?id=538430576

Plenty more to come in the next few days though.

Also, if I talked to any of you about coaching when I got back and I haven’t messaged you yet, please send me a message on 2p2, or contact me via email/MSN at bigbabe_44@msn.com

I also decided I’m going to use this blog as a golf log/journal so if you don’t like it then just know that you really hurt my feelings. Today I hit balls for about an hour or so working on rotating my hips properly on my backswing. For pretty much my whole golf life I’ve swayed my hips towards the target on the backswing which is fundamentally terrible. When I think about all the awful things I’ve fixed in my swing I can’t believe I ever shot good scores. For the first time, in like, ever, I can sniff what it is going to feel like to actually swing it WELL, and safe to say I’ve got a perma-chub.

Tomorrow my plans are:

-Hit 500 balls working on my hip turn. I want to take care of it quickly so I can start playing and shooting some SCORES.

-6×6x10 putting drill. I put 6 tees in a hexagon around the hole 6 feet away and hole 10 putts from each location. It keeps me very sharp for my close putts, and 6 different locations lets me get a feel for every type of putt. Also working with a Pelz Putting Track to keep my stroke perfectly straight and square. This is going to be a big change from what I’m used to but I reckon it will make me more consistent and roll the daylights out of the ball.

-Various random chipping/pitching practice. When I chip and pitch I usually don’t work on any fundamentals, just feel and trying different shots with different clubs.

Hopefully tomorrow I can come back and say I accomplished all of this and feel great.

GET BETTER EVERY DAY!!

Song of the trip! I think I want it played at my funeral. Talk to you tomorrow!

Heyyooooo!

Hey guys! Got a new blog. Golf huh, all right, well… see ya later! If you caught that one you don’t lose any points.

In January… I accomplished pretty much nothing, besides having a super great time with great friends, so I guess that’s something? I played a combo of 16s/27s, I was building a roll for a little while but then I accidentally spent too much money somewhere along the way.

I can’t complain about my January results given my volume, somewhere in the $50/hr zone. With coaching and the videos on stoxpoker I think I ended up with slightly over 4k. Pretty good considering it felt like I did nothing. I mentioned the idea of going for SNE, I’d say now there’s about a 0.0001% of me pursuing it this year or any other year for that matter. The freedom of not having to work 30-40 years is way too appealing, and I’d be forced to delay the process of becoming a pro golfer even longer than I already have.

On that note, the weather here has finally gotten better, and I’m going to start playing golf! I’m gonna get out there tomorrow and Friday so I can maybe break 90 when I go to Maui on Monday (ooo-ah oooo-ah) I probably haven’t played an actual round in something disgusting like 4 months. That’s shameful, embarrassing, disgusting, etc. Back when I lived up north and played junior golf, I’d play golf with kids from Victoria who told me they took 4 months off in the winter time and I wanted to slap them for doing something so silly. Lo and behold… When I get back on February 18th I’m going to turn my life around (speaking of which I’ve already worked out for 1 day in a row, soon to be 2) and get out there as close to every day as possible. Canadian Tour Q-School is May 26th, so if I can grind it down to the +3, +4 zone, then I know I’ll be good enough to play on the Canadian Tour and I’ll go give it a shot. If I come up a bit short I’ll still go hard and get myself fully prepared for a Gateway Tour winter series, probably Arizona. Cool! It’s not so much getting out there and killing it, as it is sticking to the process of EVERYTHING that is going to let me get there, because if I can manage to do that then the rest will take care of itself.

Ohhhh man. The Canucks have been doing a really good job of losing every game they play lately, haven’t won at home in 8 or 9 or something. The night before last I had a dream that they won the game that took place last night.  It was such a sick game and Burrows scored a shorthanded goal with 1:30 left in the third to take the lead and somehow they held. Moral of the story is, dreams always come true. No matter what.

By the way did I mention I was going to Maui on Monday?

westin_maui

Siiiick life :). Going with my family, pretty exciting since it will be the first big trip we’ve gone on in 8 years. My Grandpa has been in rough shape lately so it’s made it hard to get really excited about the trip but as of today he had some shock therapy and is doing a lot better! I took some scuba courses the past couple weekends so I’m completely certified and sooooo excited to scuba in Maui, along with surfing, ziplining, golf, lying on the beach all day, etc. Siiiiigggghhh.

That’s about it for now… I’ll leave you guys with my song of the week from 1-2 weeks ago:
